"HSA has offered me a truly unique experience at Harvard, giving me the opportunity to run my own business. HSA offers a community of driven, exciting, and amazing people. I feel energized knowing that I am doing meaningful work for a great company."
- AJ Tennant, Former Vice President

HSA employs Harvard students as managers, assistant managers, and advertising associates, putting them in charge of their own businesses. From running daily operations to growing and expanding their agencies, members of the HSA management team are given both the responsibilities and the learning opportunities that come with running a business.

An Overview of Responsibilities

HSA managers, assistant managers, and advertising associates work 15-20 hours a week during the academic year, and full-time (40 hours a week) during the summer.

As a member of the HSA team, you'll learn to:

  • Prepare and execute a business plan and budget
  • Manage a team by overseeing a staff of employees
  • Analyze financial statements to make decisions about your business
  • Research new markets and possibilities in existing markets
  • Negotiate and establish relationships with clients and vendors

While much of what you learn is on the job, new managers train with outgoing managers to familiarize themselves with their agencies.
