The Harvard Shop

Together with a staff of assistant managers and up to thirty sales associates, the Manager of The Harvard Shop operates a medium-scale retail operation in the heart of Harvard Square that sells Harvard insignia clothing, custom orders for a number of groups and schools, rings, chairs, diploma frames, and more.

Managing the Harvard Shop requires maintaining our 52 JFK Street and Holyoke Center storefronts, our fully stocked website at www.TheHarvardShop.com, and fulfilling many relationships with customers interested in custom orders. It is a great experience in logistics, retail, management, and customer service. Moreover, having only joined HSA in 2001, the Harvard Shop has enormous potential for growth under visionary and dedicated leadership.

As a Manager / Assistant Manager at THS you will:

• Write and implement a business plan and a budget
• Analyze financial statements in order to make decisions about your business
• Develop a marketing strategy that expands the Shop’s customer base in the undergraduate community and beyond
• Lead strategic and marketing efforts in a variety of businesses, including Harvard rings, chairs, graduation announcements, and diploma frames
• Make inventory management decisions that shape the direction of the Shop and develop inventory management systems to continuously improve ordering efficiency and accuracy
• Manage a diverse team and complex logistical operation to gain valuable experience
• Work with a partner of The Harvard Shop, Unofficial Tours
• Plan tenting sales for the College and Harvard Graduate School of Education
