I³ Harvard College Innovation Challenge Tracks

Applicants to the I³ competition can submit plans for one of two tracks:

Top awards in the Commercial Startups and Social Startups tracks will be at least $10,000. Top awards are reserved for teams led by first-years, sophomores and juniors. An award of $2,500 is reserved for senior-led winning teams. All winning teams will be invited to spend the summer in the new Innovation Space in Harvard Square.

Commercial Startup Track

  • For-profit business ventures, in any industry.
  • First-place teams will receive at least a $10K cash grant

Social Startup Track

  • Not-for-profit ventures whose goal is to effect social impact.
  • First-place teams will receive at least a $10K cash grant

HSA: Harvard Student Agencies

  • HSA will award a total of $5k to one winner or a lesser amount to multiple winners. HSA will also provide the winner(s) with access to HSA office space, IT, e-commerce, accounting, and back-office support.
  • HSA is looking for
    • For-profit businesses created to operate on the Harvard campus
    • Technology-based ideas such as mobile applications, web-based businesses, etc., and
    • Opportunities to invest in new ventures that may not fall into the above categories.

About the I3 Competition

Harvard undergraduates of all interests and concentrations (as well as entrepreneurs from across Boston and beyond who have at least one Harvard College student on their team) compete annually to win summer funding and space by submitting plans for projects in the following two tracks:

The I³ Innovation Challenge is organized by the Harvard Student Agencies, Inc., the Technology and Entrepreneurship Center at Harvard, and the Harvard College Entrepreneurship Forum.
