The Summer Leadership Program (SLP) is designed to train high school students in the fundamentals of leadership. Originally held exclusively for Harvard Summer School students, the success of the initial program led to the expansion of this year’s program to allow highly motivated students from other schools to participate. The program targets incoming high school seniors, juniors, and sophomores who wish to enlarge their knowledge on leadership concepts and values.

The 2010 SLP will consist of two sessions taking place over two weekends and the curriculum will focus on educating and training high school students about leadership in business, public service, journalism and social enterprise. With sessions led by students from Harvard College, Business, and Law, the program will

    * Teach students how to present themselves in a professional setting, from writing a resume to tips on interviewing;
    * Introduce participants to real life business leaders in order to provide them with a view of the issues that leaders face everyday;
    * Help develop and enhance the leadership skills necessary to thrive in high school and beyond through collaborative teamwork

This year, the SLP has expanded to take place over two weeks in order to allow participants to get a more comprehensiveerspective of all aspects of leadership training. The dates for the 2010 SLP are:

     * Session One: July 17-July 18, 2010
    * Session Two: July 24-July 25, 2010

The two-week program will culminate in a small leadership competition, where each group of 4-5 participants will be given a small project to work through and present to the judges at the end of the program. The winning prize will include Harvard Shop memorabilia, gift certificates to lunch, and the opportunity to intern  for the HSA president for a day.
